Canadian beef - The Canadian Mint argues that the technology used to create colour on the decorative coins violates their patent.

Possum - Whilst the Canadian Mint has no problem with the 'Possum Magic' images themselves, they say Australia's method for printing colour on to coins is too similar to theirs.

Trouble - The trouble flared up last year. Canada first sued the Royal Australian Mint in an Australian Federal Court over an Australian Remembrance Day commemorative coin.

Three strikes - Canada has taken offence to three individual coins in total, the two remembrance and one 'Possum Magic' coin.

Request - The Royal Canadian Mint is requesting that all allegedly infringing coins in the Austrailian Mint be destroyed.

Prevent - They wish to prevent these coins joining circulation into the Australian public's pockets and wallets.

Damages - The Canadians are also seeking damages and costs associated with the lawsuit.

Argument - Court documents show that the Canadian Mint reached out to their Australian counterparts in 2015 to attempt to resolve the issue informally.

Meeting - The two arguing parties even met at the World Money Fair in Berlin in 2016, but failed to reach a settlement.

Same same but different - According to the BBC, the Australian mint counters that the technology they use is "sufficiently different".
