Where to begin with ‘Game of Thrones’? In just eight years the fantasy drama has become one of the most popular TV shows ever. Based on bestselling books by George R. R. Martin, ‘GoT’ follows nine families that battle for the throne of the fantasy world of Westeros. The show has helped little-known actors become household names, with award-winning performances from both new names and established stars. The show is coming to a close next year, with the release of the eighth and final series. Many of the cast have bid farewell to the hit franchise, wishing their co-stars well and musing on how time flies. Here’s a roundup of fond farewells from ‘Game of Thrones’ stars.

Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, shared a striking Instagram selfie with a heartfelt message. “It's been a trip [‘Game of Thrones’] thank you for the life I never dreamed I'd be able to live and the family I'll never stop missing”. Clarke’s on-screen husband, Jason Momoa, commented “love u. Proud of you” under the post.

Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, got a ‘Game of Thrones’ tattoo just last week.

Fan favourite Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion, shared his favourite ‘Game of Thrones’ quotes on Instagram.
