Gaten Matarazzo plays Dustin on the hit Netflix series 'Stranger Things.' The young star was born with cleidocranial dysplasia, a disorder that affects his bones and teeth.
"I’ve told you a million times; my teeth are coming in. It’s called cleidocranial dysplasia," Dustin says in the first season of the show. While his gummy smile became a signature trademark of his character, the condition is quite costly to treat.
In 2016, the actor started the foundation CCD Smiles, which funds dental care and research for those affected. By donating his time and money, Matarazzo is putting smiles on the faces of many children in need.
“I have everything I need, you know, so I thought why not help other people who need it?” Matarazzo said, according to the website Warmful.com.
The generosity of this young actor is incredibly endearing. Fans of Dustin and 'Stranger Things' are looking forward to seeing his sweet smile again in the next season.
