TV 13 Reasons Why

The show '13 Reasons Why' details how bullying can impact the lives of young people. By jumping from character to character, a lesson you draw from the series is that when someone is bullied, the bystanders are also to blame.

Brandon Flynn addresses teens head-on to explain why it's people like his character on the show, Justin, who are a part of the problem. "You're a bully. And so am I, because we've all done nothing when we see people we know get mistreated," Flynn said in his Attn: video.

In the show, Justin doesn't think it's his place to stop Hannah, the main character, from being bullied.

"In reality, only 8% of the population are actual bullies while 80% of us are bystanders," Flynn said. "We can stop this. We're just choosing not to. Just because you're not the one getting bullied it doesn't mean it's not your problem too."

While '13 Reasons Why' is a fictional series, its lessons are based on actions that take place in hallways throughout America. Just remember, the bystander is just as guilty as those they didn't stop.
