Netflix has just announced that Will Ferrell will co-write and star in a new film called 'Eurovision,' Pitchfork reports.

It will be Ferrell's first ever Netflix original, and he's chosen the Eurovision Song Contest as the centre of his work. The contest is an annual international European singing competition that is wildly popular around the world. It took place this year in Portugal, with 43 countries sending their best talent to compete. Israel took home the gold with the song "Toy," performed by Netta.

Australia has competed in the competition for the past four years since 2015. Jessica Mauboy represented Australia in the last edition, however, she came in 18th place, which is the worst position to date.

Ferrell will reportedly co-write the film with his long-time collaborator Andrew Steele, who is also the Funny or Die, creative director, as well as the former head writer on 'Saturday Night Live.'

With Ferrell's track record, the help of Steele, and the watchful eye of Netflix, the new comedy should be a hit—or at least it should involve a lot of musical numbers, which is also sure to be entertaining.
