Working mothers - The media release underlines how mothers of children under age 15 have more struggles than men in keeping and attaining an employment arrangement.

Stay-at-home mothers - The 2018 Survey of Education and Work shows that 28% of women either take time out from their jobs or leave their professions to focus on their growing families.

Stay-at-home fathers - For men, the percentage is staggeringly smaller at 4%. Meaning men are less likely to take the time out of their jobs, or not work altogether, and stay home with their young families.

Part-time parents -

Many parents, both men and women, choose to work part-time.

That said, the difference among sexes is still vast. In 2018, 39% of mothers and 7% of fathers were reported to work part-time.

A mother's level of education -

The survey also indicates that a mother's level of education plays a big part in her chances of attaining or keeping a job.

The higher levels of education that the mother holds, the more likely they are to get a job.

Fathers have it easier -

The media release also states that for fathers, the level of education has less to do with the possibilities of finding and keeping a job.

Employable fathers -

96% of fathers who have a Bachelor degree or higher are reportedly currently employed.

That's a 20% difference from employed mothers, who also have Bachelor degrees or higher (79%).

The Education and Work 2018 issue shows that 89% of fathers with tertiary qualifications below Certificate III are employed.

That's a big difference from mothers (53%).

Number of Aussies with a non-school qualification - The data from the May 2018 issue also mentions that 9.8 million (66.7%) of Aussies, aged between 20 and 64, have attained a tertiary qualification.

More employed women than ever before - According to the survey, women between 24 and 60 years of age are now more likely than ever to achieve a tertiary qualification.

Qualified women -

In 2004, only 53% of women had or were in the process of attaining a tertiary qualification, which was lower than the percentage for men (at approximately 59%).

More equality in 2018 -

However, this gap has drastically changed in the last 14 years.

Now, the percentage of women gaining a tertiary qualification (67.1%) is not only much more similar to that of men's (66.4%), but also slightly higher!

Aussies (aged 20-64) who are employed -

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics issue on Education and Work in 2018, 71.4% of Aussies (aged 20-64) are currently employed.

What a difference a decade makes - That's a drastic difference from the 2008 data, which indicated that 64% of the Australian population had a job at the time.

Aussies (aged 20-64) who are unemployed -

The 2018 data also shows that 58% of Aussies, between the ages of 20 and 64, and who have a tertiary qualification, are not currently employed.

Unemployment has risen in the last decade - The number of unemployed Aussies in 2018 (58%) has also increased since 2008, when the percentage was 48.8%.

Aussies (aged 20-64) who don't work -

The Education and Work issue also reports that 49.9% of Aussies are not in the labour force at all. Be it by choice, retirement, or other reasons.

In 2008, the number was 42.4%, which is not that drastic of a difference, compared to employment and unemployment rates.
