The bus - They took the bus like they had the day before, but this time didn't return home. They vanished without a trace and the disappearance was a complete and utter mystery.

No hope - Although hoaxes by psychics gave the parents, Jim and Nancy Beaumont, hope the children were later presumed abducted and murdered. The police found no evidence of the children.

Adelaide Oval - On August 25, 1973, two young girls, Joanne Ratcliffe, 11, and Kirste Gordon, 4, went missing from Adelaide Oval.

Taken - In broad daylight, the two girls were taken during a football game which 1000's of people attended. With nothing but a sketch to go on, the kidnapper was never caught.

DNA - Although it is believed cold case murders can be solved decades later by DNA, no further proof has emerged in this mysterious disappearance.

Wanda Beach murders - Best friends, Marianne Schmidt and Christine Sharrock, were found murdered at Wanda Beach near Cronulla in 1965.

Mannequin - A man walking along the beach thought he saw a mannequin in the sand, but upon approaching it realised it was the two girls in a shallow grave and called the police immediately.

Bowraville Murders -

In Bowraville, three young Aboriginal teens were murdered over the span of five months during 1990-1991.

The Mission -

Colleen Walker, her cousin Evelyn Greenup, and Clinton Speedy-Duroux all went missing at different times after parties at The Mission.

Suspect -

Since 1996, the same man has been suspected of committing the murders, however, has been acquitted twice for the crimes. In 2016, it was decided the prime suspect could not be tried again.

Mr Cruel - An unknown child serial rapist and murderer, known as Mr Cruel, attacked three young girls during 1987-1990. He was also suspected of kidnapping and murdering of a fourth girl in 1991.

Bound - In each situation, Mr Cruel broke in, bound and gagged family members and attacked the young girls. Each time becoming more confident and brazen.

Abducted - The first attack being the exception, he would abduct the girls and molest them, each time keeping them for longer. The abduction and murder of Karmein Chan is also suspected to be his doing.

Claremont serial killers - In 1996, Sarah Spiers, 18, went missing after leaving a nightclub in Claremont. She had allegedly called a taxi from a phone booth, and in the time it took for the taxi to arrive she had disappeared.

Body found - Later that year, the same occurred to Jane Rimmer, 23. Her body was found in bushland over a month later.

Unknown - In 1997, Ciara Glennon, 27, disappeared. Her body was found along a track a month later near Pipidinny Road in Eglinton, WA. The perpetrator is still unknown.

Crawford family murders - In 1970, a pregnant mother and her three children were found dead, locked in a car that had been driven off a cliff at Loch Ard Gorge in VIC.

Investigation - It was discovered after a coroners inquest that Elmer Crawford, their father and husband, was responsible for the murders. He had electrocuted his wife in her sleep and then bludgeoned his children.

Murder-suicide - He had loaded them into the car and attached a hose from the exhaust through the driver's window to make it look like a murder-suicide. Elmer Crawford has been missing ever since the murders and has not been prosecuted.

Easey Street murders - On January 10, 1977, Suzanne Armstrong and Susan Bartlett were stabbed to death in their Melbourne home.

Unharmed - Gregory, Armstrong's 16 month-old son was left unharmed. Three days later, neighbour's heard the boy whimpering and discovered the bodies.

Linked - The murders have been linked to the disappearance and presumed murder of Julie Garciacelay in 1975.

Tynong North and Frankston murders - Before Paula Denyer, Frankston had another serial killer. Between May 1980 and October 1981, six women were abducted, murdered and their bodies dumped.

Dumped - These women varied in age and their bodies were found dumped in shrubs throughout Tynong North and Frankston.

Serial killer - Initially, the murders were investigated separately, although later they were linked via similarities in the cases. No one has been charged for the murders to this day.

Wonnangatta murders -

Bushman Jim Barclay and cook John Bamford went missing in 1917 when they left rural Wonnangatta to vote in a referendum in Albert Stout, VIC.

Shot -

Barclay was found shot dead, and Bamford was suspected due to his violent temper. However, Bamford's body was later found, also shot. These murders remain unsolved.
