Soft spot - The filmmaker continued, "The bin chicken is the symbol of fighting against the city and trying to triumph against the odds, so we have a very soft spot for them."

Cockroach - "They're survivors - adapt-or-die embodied in one filthy, flying cockroach," Andronicos refers to their adaptation from their unlivable habitats to living off human waste.

Field research - Andronicos says there was a lot of field research to really get into the mind of the ibis in order to create the show, hitting up well-known ibis hang out hot spots.

Three ibis - The animation is based on three ibises that live in Sydney's Darling Harbour, living alongside "imbecile humans and their ludicrous civilisation", according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Trio - Derek, Janice and Clive are the protagonists in the show interacting with the lively tourist destination around them.

Character - One of the characters is "our wide-eyed idealist", another is "a more cynical, jaded pessimist with a fearless spirit", and one who is "slightly older, wiser and just out to get his beak dirty".

Awareness - Although the series seems like a diss towards the ibis, it also brings a fresh perspective on what the birds go through, and where they actually came from.

Found - Although this bird can be found in large number around major cities like Sydney, Gold Coast and Perth, its main habitat is wetlands.

Bad reputation - The Australian white ibis goes by many names, including bin chicken, dump chook, tip turkey, trash vulture, Bankstown bin-diver, garbage flyer, winged waste lizard, rubbish raptor, dreg-beaked scrap fowl, detritus drake, or bottom-feeder biddy.

Prefer - Their natural habitat includes swamps, grasslands, wetlands, parks, beaches and mudflats, they have had to move to the city due to drought and habitat destruction.

Bin juice - They usually would eat the likes of crustaceans, insects, frogs, fish and snails, they now eat an unhealthy diet of food scraps and bin juice.

Appearance - Due to their unhealthy city-bin diets, they seem to have developed an unkempt appearance, which doesn't help with the already negative perception people have of them.

Inland - They once enjoyed the open space of inland marshes, now they share coastal urban areas, local parks and public spaces with pigeons and seagulls who also scrounge for food.

Beaks - They are also called the 'farmer's friend' due to their love for bugs that benefit gardens and farms by controlling plagues of locusts and other insects.

Protected - These native Australian birds are protected under the Nature Conservation Act 1992 within State Wildlife Legislation.

Important - Their long-term conservation is important for maintaining a variety of plants and animals, experts have said.

Tall and wide - Ibis are characterised by their long, curved beaks, long legs, and wide wingspan.

Marvel - Wildlife ecologist Dr John Martin said this evolutionary marvel is one of few animals to adapt from a negative impact on their habitat and actually change its behaviour by moving to the coast to survive.

Ibis needs you - But still conservation is very important, as well as their health, so avoid feeding the ibis, don't leave food scraps out, and discourage birds from nesting in the area so they can slowly migrate back to their natural homes.
