HEALTH Cold hands

Indeed, it’s not just a coincidence that women often have cold hands and feet. There is scientific evidence showing that their hands and feet are in fact several degrees colder.

Scientists have concluded that women’s bodies generally have a higher temperature and are capable of retaining heat for longer. Women’s bodies can increase the blood flow of vital organs more quickly than men’s, which leaves less warmth for their hands and feet.

Scientists suspect this process has to do with women’s hormones, size and composition. Their hands and feet can be about 2.8 degrees Fahrenheit colder than men’s.

Aside from putting on gloves and thick socks, there are some simple tricks available to keep your hands and feet warm. Consider that caffeine and stress hinder your bloodstream, which results in colder hands and feet.

You can counter this effect by consuming less coffee and meditating more often. Foods containing omega-3 fatty acids can also improve your bloodstream. If your hands are cold, you can try swinging around your arms for a temporary boost in warmth.
