Years of rumors have come and gone about whether Idris Elba will succeed Daniel Craig as the next James Bond, with waves of excitement dampened by immense disappointment, only to flare up again, every time a bit brighter. At the Golden Globe awards on Sunday night, the dashing actors fanned the flames with a very un-Bond-like selfie.
The 'Luther' actor captioned the photo "Awks..." and it features Craig comically staring an uncomfortable Elba down. Note the hesitant hand awkwardly placed on Craig's shoulder.

Elba is obviously deeply enjoying the rumors, but whether the photo confirms them or not is still frustratingly unclear. What is clear, however, is that the classy Bond-like actors are now officially buddies who joke around together and hopefully sip on martinis while the rest of the world wonders what it would be like if the two of them faced off in a film. Elba’s fiancée Sabrina Dhowre also shared the photo and wrote, “Not to add to the fire but….play nice guys.”
Elba also fueled some other rumors that night, when he spoke to Access about his DJ career and his work with Taylor Swift. The two will appear in 'Cats' together, and when asked about Swift's skill on set, Elba said she has "serious acting chops" and that she can hold her own. After Elba expressed his excitement to play Coachella, which is an exciting enough prospect on its own, he slipped in, "I might get Taylor and I to do a song!" He then let out a "Woo!" and then said, "Alright, I gotta go," and left.
