As a father, you never want to disappoint your children, and being a prince on top of that adds even more responsibility as more people look to you for help. Luckily, Prince William is using his powers for good

The Duke of Cambridge addressed the Illegal Wildlife Trade Conference in London, vowing to help protect endangered wildlife. He said he would find it "heartbreaking" and wouldn't be able to look his children "in the eye" if the animals they loved—like tigers, rhinos, and elephants—no longer existed, The Daily Mail reports.

The 36-year-old made a moving keynote speech in the presence of political leaders, businesses and conservation groups. He admitted that the idea of those animals, the same animals most children grow up learning about, going extinct "on our watch" brings him a great deal of pain.

Raising three young children appears to have brought wildlife, and the necessity of halting illegal wildlife trades, to the forefront of his concerns.

Prince William did clarify, however, that wanting to protect nature is not just an emotional issue, but that "it makes economic sense," since the illegal wildlife trade is an economic crime.

He explained that the natural world is our biggest and most important asset, and it's the only way to secure prosperity for those who come after us. If we don't take action now, our grandchildren will never forgive us.
