The sexual misconduct allegations against director Woody Allen are nothing new, however, the effect on his film career certainly is. News that his latest film, 'A Rainy Day in New York' has yet to receive a release date—and perhaps never will.
In a statement to Page Six, the production company behind the film, Amazon Studios, said, “No release date has ever been set for the film.”
'A Rainy Day in New York' has a star-studded cast including Timothée Chalamet, Selena Gomez, Jude Law and Elle Fanning and wrapped up filming last Fall. The movie racked up a budget of $25 million.
Since the #MeToo movement hit Hollywood, the allegations about Allen have a received renewed attention. In January, the directors Dylan Farrow accused Allen of sexually abusing her as a child.
“He’s lying and he’s been lying for so long,” Farrow said in an interview with CBS. “It is difficult for me to see him and to hear his voice.”
So far, Allen has no films slated for 2019.
