Meghan Markle rejects Emmy Awards invite—what's the royal reason?
The former 'Suits' star won't be at the Hollywood event
Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has left her Hollywood days behind her and officially opted out of attending the Emmy Awards with her 'Suits' co-stars.
Executives of the NBC show told The Sun, “We had hoped Meghan would attend as a way of saying goodbye to her Suits fans and colleagues."
Markle was on the Emmy's ballot for Best Drama Supporting Actress, however, she was not nominated.
The Sun reported that “Show executives and NBC had offered Harry and her an invitation to celebrate with the biggest stars around, meet her showbiz friends and even present an honour. But Meghan is not attending.”
What's the royal reason for turning down the invitation? According to the Hollywood executives, Markle sees this decision as drawing “a line in the sand” between her acting career and her duties in the British royal family.
The 70th Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on September 17.
