The most iconic Aussie songs ever recorded - Fancy a trip down memory lane? As a nation, we have produced some amazing music, but what makes a song truly, bluely Aussie-tastic?

'Down Under' - Men at Work got under everyone's skin with their earworm of a track 'Down Under'.

Traveling in a fried-out Kombi - The hit song went to number one in Australia in December 1981, and then topped the New Zealand charts in February 1982.

Do you come from a land down under - The song topped the Canadian charts in October 1982. In the United States, it debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on 6 November, 1982 at No. 79, and reached No. 1 in January 1983, where it spent four non-consecutive weeks.

Where women glow and men plunder - It eventually sold over two million copies in the US alone. Billboard ranked it at number four for 1983.

'You're the Voice' - John Farnam's belter 'You're the Voice' is so iconically Aussie it might as well be wearing thongs and drinking a tinnie.

Bagpipes - The song was one of the biggest hits of 1986 in Australia. It was Farnam's biggest international hit, charting at number one in Germany and Sweden and reaching the top 10 in the UK and many continental European countries, as well as the top 20 in Canada.

'Beds are Burning' - The Aboriginal protest song by Midnight Oil 'Beds are Burning' is a rousing floor stomper of a track.

How do we sleep while our beds are burning - It reached No. 1 in New Zealand, South Africa, and Canada.

How can we dance when our earth is turning - It also reached number three in the Netherlands, number five in France, number six in the UK and Australia, number 11 in Ireland, and number 17 in the USA and Sweden.

'Waltzing Matilda' - Slim Dusty was one of very many who covered this Australian classic, also known as our unofficial national anthem.

Oldest bush ballad - The original lyrics were written in 1895 by Australian poet Banjo Paterson, and were first published as sheet music in 1903.

'Back in Black' - No Aussie music list would be complete without AC/DC. 'Back in Black' is as Australian as a dingo eating a baby.

Tribute - The song was AC/DC's tribute to their former singer, Bon Scott.

'Into My Arms' - 'Into My Arms' was written by Nick Cave, and released as the first single from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' tenth studio album, 'The Boatman's Call', in 1997.

'I Still Call Australia Home' - Peter Allen's 'I Still Call Australia Home' has been used in advertising and brings a tear to any travelling Aussie.

The Boy From Oz - In the 1984 Summer Olympics Opening Gala TV special in LA, Olivia Newton-John performed the song from Sydney, with the choir in a medley with 'Waltzing Matilda'.

'Prisoner of Society' - The Living End's angst-ridden teenager call to arms still strikes a cord. 'Prisoner of Society' will always be a classic.

Well we don't need no one to tell us what to do - It was the best selling Australian single of the 1990s and spent a record-breaking 69 weeks on the ARIA Top 100.

'Somebody That I Used To Know' - Gotye's track 'Somebody That I Used To Know' took over the whole world's airwaves when it was released in 2011.

World domination - The song topped charts in the US, UK, and Australia, as well as 23 other national charts, and reached the top 10 in more than 30 countries around the world.

'My Happiness' - Bernard Fanning wrote the lyrics for 'My Happiness' as a reflection on the time the band spent touring and the ensuing loneliness.

'Eagle Rock' - Daddy Cool's 'Eagle Rock' was released in the May of 1971. It went on to become the best-selling Australian single of the year.

Inspiration - Elton John was so inspired by the song after hearing it on his 1972 tour he wrote 'Crocodile Rock' with lyricist Bernie Taupin.
