TV Roseanne

ABC has cancelled the hit show 'Roseanne' following a racially demeaning tweet from the show's star, Roseanne Barr.

But this isn't the first controversy 'Roseanne' has stumbled into, on or off the air.

Barr tweeted about Valerie Jarrett, a Black woman who was an adviser to Barrack Obama, referring to her as an animal.

“muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.” tweeted Roseanne Barr, who since deleted the tweet.

Then it got weird.

“ISLAM is not a RACE, lefties. Islam includes EVERY RACE of people.” Barr tweeted, seemingly out of context.

She was already on a bit of a spree.

Left wing billionaire, George Soros, had felt Roseanne Barr's wrath earlier in the day.

The 'Roseanne' star called the non-observant Jewish investor a Nazi.

By this time, the situation had gotten pretty hairy and Roseanne Barr expressed remorse to Valerie Jarrett and quit twitter.

I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.

Comedian and consulting producer on the show, Wanda Sykes, was quick to quit the show following Roseanne Barr's display.

In a surprising backlash to the common theme of Roseanne controversy, her employer hit back.

"Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC's President of Entertainment, Channing Dungey said in a statement.

The star has a well-known appreciation for Donald Trump and the feeling has been, up until now, mutual.

That support has given some the impression that 'Roseanne' the TV show is targeted to Trump supporters.

Adding to that speculation, Barr briefly accused a Parkland school shooting survivor of giving a Nazi salute.

On top of which, a recent 'Roseanne' episode featured Barr thinking her Muslim neighbors were building a bomb.

Despite all of this, 'Roseanne' was always about controversy even in the 1980s version and benefited in the ratings because of it.

“You can’t control Roseanne Barr,” the president of Walt Disney Company’s and ABC’s TV group told The New York Times in March.

Now Barr has gone too far for even her employer.
