TRAVEL Japan
Why go to a delicious food museum when you could visit a peculiar parasite museum? Head to Tokyo, Japan to explore all things creepy, crawling, and possibly contagious.
The Meguro Parasitological Museum was founded in 1953 by Dr. Satoru Kamegai. The impressive two-story location is located in the Meguro residential district in Tokyo. According to Culture Trip, the museum contains 60,000 parasite specimens, 300 of which are on display, as well as 50,000 scientific papers and 6,000 research books on the subject of parasitology.
One of the museums hottest attractions is the tapeworm display. The world's longest tapeworm 8.8 meters (28.9 feet) is roughly the size of a city bus. Probably a world record nobody wants to break, but everyone wants to see!
One Twitter user shared photos from her experience at the museum, writing, "The Meguro Parasitological Museum in Tokyo is as awesome as I’d hoped it would be!"
