This wildly popular game was initially rated MA15+ (Only for 15-year-olds and over) but was later refused classification because of a hidden scene in 2005.

Hot coffee scene - A sexually explicit scene, dubbed the hot coffee scene, was hidden in the source code of the game and resulted in 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' being banned.

$20 million -

Morphine -

The Board said that the use of morphine being used to ignore injury in the game was reason enough to ban it altogether.

Critics -

Critics argue that morphine was referenced in the same way during games like 'Call of Cthulu', 'Half-Life' and 'Velvet Assassin', all of which were given classification.

Re-released -

Eventually, 'Fallout 3' changed "morphine" to "Med-X" for the Aussie market and received classification of MA15+.

'The Witcher 2' -

This game was never refused classification but was threatened with it for containing sex as a reward.

Reward -

Though the Board didn't take issue with their being sexual content in the game, having it as a reward threatened the game with declassification.

Because the reward in question was only during one scene, 'The Witcher 2' was given an opportunity to change it and receive classification from the Board.

'Mortal Combat 9' -

When 'Mortal Combat 9' was released in 2011, the Australian Classification Board's strictest rating was MA15+, with no rating for 18-year-olds and up.

R18 -

In 2013 the Australian Classification Board brought in the R18 (restricted from under 18-year-olds), giving 'Mortal Combat 9' another chance to apply for classification.
