Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War

Sarajevo, June 28, 1914 - The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie by Gavrilo Princip precipitated a series of events that eventually led to the outbreak of the First World War. John McCrae (1872–1918) - A Canadian poet, physician, author, artist, and solider, McCrae penned the now famous poem 'In Flanders Fields,' which references the red poppies that grew over the graves of fallen soldiers.
