How many Aussie women are in the boardroom? -

Women in Australia are occupying more CEO, CFO and general executive leadership positions, but progress is slow. 

More the half of the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia have no women in line to become part of the executive leadership. 

That's according to the Chief Executive Women's Senior Executive Census 2018.  

Here's where women are growing in leadership positions and where there's the biggest room for growth in Australia.

CEOs 7% women - Only 7% of CEOs were women in the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia. That's up 5% from last year.

14 women CEOs - There are 14 women CEOs in the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia. That's up from 11 in 2017.

CFOs 12% women - Women made up 12% of CFOs in the top 200 publicly traded Australian companies. That's up 3% from 2017.

24 women CFOs - Up from 17 in 2017, there are 24 women CFOs in the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia.

COOs 15% women - COOs at the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia are 15% women.

430 women in ASX200 Executive Leadership Teams - There were 430 women in executive leadership roles at the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia. That's an increase of 49 from 2017.

1428 men in ASX200 Executive Leadership Teams - Men outnumber women by more than three to one in leadership roles at the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia.

That number of men in those leadership roles has only increased by five since 2017.

23 companies with no women in executive leadership - In the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia, there were 23 companies that had exclusively male executive leadership teams. That's down from 41 in 2017.

12.3% of line roles held by women - Women made up 12.3% of line roles where like CEO, COO, or general executive. That's only increased by 0.3% compared with 2017.

34% of functional roles held by women - Women made up 34%  of roles where they served a specific function like human resources, strategic officer or investor relations. That's up 4% from 2017.

59% of companies have no women in line roles - The majority of the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia have no women in roles directly related to the advancement of the company's core work.

79% of Human Resources executives are women - Human Resource executives are overwhelmingly women at the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia. That's up 4% from 2017.

60% of Investor Relations executives are women - Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs executives are 60% women at the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia. That's up 8% from 2017.

45% of Legal executives are women - Nearly half of legal executives are women at the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia. That's up from 40% in 2017.

36% of Customer, Sales and Marketing executives are women - Just over a third of customer, sales and marketing executives are women at the top 200 publicly traded companies in Australia. That's up 3% from 2017.
