Mind blowing: Woman's brains burst out of skull while giving birth
It took years for her to find out
A British woman underwent such a fierce act of childbirth that her brain burst out of her skull. The difficult labour led to years of suffering and almost caused her death.
Grace Mountain from Berkshire went through a horrific ordeal, enduring entire a 76-hour labour. The mounting pressure on her brain was so overwhelming that it apparently caused it to burst out of her skull.
During the childbirth, she had several seizures and had to be taken to intensive care. Due to her condition called ‘Chiari II malformation’, she could not have an epidural for pain relief. She eventually gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Patrick.
Unfortunately, Grace did not fully recover after the difficult labour. She didn’t know exactly what happened, but she felt something was decidedly wrong. The mother went back to the hospital several times because of severe pain, but the doctors were convinced that it was because of her pre-existing condition.
It would take three difficult years for her to finally see a specialist who was willing to do a scan. He discovered that her brain had slumped down, requiring surgery. If she had waited any longer, he suspects she would have been paralyzed or dead.
Mind-blowingly wild news indeed.
