A slice of lemon in your glass of water doesn't only look fancier, it also tastes good and, lucky for you, just so happens to be super healthy!
Everybody knows we have to drink water to keep us ticking along, it brings nutrients to your cells and removes waste products from your body. Dietician Ashley Koff says lemon also greatly benefits your digestion.
"The lemon triggers the release of sodium bicarb (alkaline part) into the small intestine, and this can help relieve indigestion," Koff said.
According to Stephanie Ferrari, who is a registered dietician says there are so many reasons to add lemon to your daily water intake: "It helps keep you hydrated and thus improves muscle function and digestion. It may also aid in weight loss."
Lemons are a great source of antioxidants. The powerful antioxidant vitamin C heals the damage in your body that is caused by free radicals.
The best time of the day to drink water with lemon is right after you wake up. That is exactly the moment your body needs to hydrate and what will taste better than a glass of fresh lemon water? Zing!
