CELEBRITY 10-year challenge

Social media platforms have recently been inundated with celebrities doing the 10-Year Challenge, posting photos of their current selves next to images from a decade ago. Predictably, some stars hardly looked different (hello, cosmetic enhancements), while others had evolved their style.

Besides 10 years not being that big of a deal (check out the difference that 20 years makes), many celebrities have refused to participate, but in their own creative ways. Whether it's protesting the very nature of viral challenges or time itself, some stars are not going to play your game.

Mariah Carey gave us perhaps the best example yet, when she tweeted two of the exact same photos, side by side, of herself and her dog, writing, "I don't get this 10 year challenge, time is not something I acknowledge." She also added the note: "Picture taken at some point prior to today." It doesn't get more diva than that.

Chelsea Peretti, star of 'Brooklyn 99' and wife to Jordan Peele, took the opportunity to make a joke about her characteristic big nose, posting photos of Jim Varney and Howard Stern, two stars with similar noses, next to each other. "#10yearchallenge I cant believe All that I’ve been through over the last 10 years but I have to say my extraordinary charisma has kept me afloat," she wrote.

Peretti later posted a photo of herself, where she looks virtually the same as she does now, and wrote, "9 years ago I refuse to do 10." Standing her ground.

Looking back at the past can be hard for a lot of people, including Demi Lovato, who refused to do the challenge flat out. The singer wrote on her Instagram story, "Sorry, I'd love to post a #10yearchallenge pic but I'm too busy living in the moment..."

Jennifer Garner approached it a little differently and chose to highlight a slightly embarrassing moment from 10 years ago when she was photographed in a pair of ripped pink underwear, which she calls "big girl panties." She posted the photo next to one of herself adjusting her legwarmers and added, "#getittogethergurl."

All of this celebrity participation is definitely doing Facebook a favour, as the company is desperate to convince the public that this 10-Year Challenge was not a ploy to collect facial recognition data without permission.

Campo obrigatório
